Breaking: ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been delayed one year. The movie’s release date has been moved to June 2020. Paramount says the extra time will give filmmakers a chance to work out the logistics of presenting flight sequences with new technology and planes.
ALERT: JOHN HAMM WILL JOIN THE CAST! Sorry for yelling in all caps, but I got a little excited. No word on the former ‘Mad Men’ star’s character yet. Also, the legendary Ed Harris, and actor Lewis Pullman (son of Bill Pullman) are now part of the ensemble!
Jennifer Connolly will co-star as a single mother who runs a bar near the Navy base where Maverick works. To prepare for the role, she will lose two inches of height. 😉
Miles Teller has been cast in the role of Goose’s son. He is Maverick’s new protégé.
More about the plot: It is reportedly set in today’s world, with drone warfare taking over, and lots of fighter jet action. In a reverse of the original, Maverick will return as an instructor training a cocky pilot. Kelly McGillis is not slated to return.
Update: Val Kilmer has been spotted at the San Diego hotel the production crew has been using.
Kenny Loggins says that Tom Cruise wants to bring back the song “Danger Zone” for the new movie. Loggins hopes to do it as a duet with a young act.
